Do not buy a Vizio Tv for Mexico. The smartcast does not work here.

Do you have a VPN? If you can make the TV and your cellphone think you are in the USA, it will work. It means you need to set up a VPN on your wi-fi router.

I got in touch with Vizio and they said that that platform is only for the United States and I do have a VPN and it won't work here even with it. I just think that when you buy a TV with that system you should be told that it won't work here. I understand enough Spanish to get by.

No, you shouldn't have contacted Vizio for a solution. They can't tell you how to circumvent legal protocols. See the videos and the info I added in the previous message.

Im quite proud of myself. I connected the TV. Found it had a distorted sound so bought a soundbar, got that connected and then had to purchase a pedestal base because the Tv had legs that was too large for the TV stand. I put that together myself also. Yay for me. Now the only thing I don't know how to do is how to put the VPN on my router. But the person I texted with said that the VPN won't make a difference but Im willing to try.

Not every router is able to have a VPN installed at the router level.
It's usually installed on the computer.

Sounds like you have a valid reason to complain to the store that you bought not from. You’d think the salesperson would have told you this.

Bought it online from Amazon. It was the least expensive 50 inch Tv I could find as a replacement for the 50 inch Tv that went kaput. I rent so I wanted to spend the least amount because my landlady is paying me back.

The VPN should work. Your system will appear to be located in the U.S. Everything else is exactly the same other than the InfernalNet thinks you are the States.

Try nordvpn.com or one of the other premium VPN's. Most all have a free trial period.

Don't buy it through Amazon. All sales are final. It didn't work for Sportsnet on Firestick even though Nord is the firestick recommended VPN. When I chatted with Nord they said it doesn't work on Sportsnet. Nice to know after purchase. No money back available.

Then today, my laptop which also had Nord VPN installed, basically ground to a halt. After an hour's struggle, decided to uninstall Nord. Laptop back to normal.

Cannot recommend. It might work for you but do not expect money back if you buy through Amazon.

There are a lot of things media-wise that don't work in Mexico. And that is because the tv "knows" where it was sold. Having faced the "receiving US tv" challenge for the past couple years, I will share some experience.

Never ever mention VPN to anybody except the support people from your VPN provider.

You might need to change your VPN server because there are location restrictions in the US as well. For example, connected to Los Angeles1, ESPN doesn't work, so I switch to Dallas2. But then I have to switch back to LA1 for Paramount+. When you log into your VPN provider's interface, you should see how to do that.

Streaming services are terrible. They have managed to combine the worst aspects of cable tv, antenna tv, the early days of file-sharing, and make it cost more. It's not your fault.

If you REALLY want that tv to be an Estadounidense Google the model number and "region reset." You should be able to find the code (it will look like: press vol down 3 times, then simultaneously press channel up and 5) that will let you change it to a US tv. That will of course introduce a whole new set of problems and wipe out any stored passwords, but it will likely solve your immediate problem.

Thank you so much. I use Express VPN and it has always worked for me. This Tv screwed that up. I have to use the Firestick now which works but the Firestick is mine so when I leave the new renters will not be able to have full access to this Vizio.
