Health officials for the state of Guerrero confirm 4 currently active cases of Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo, 96 in Acapulco, and 308 in the entire state.

Folks on their vacations here sure are getting their money's worth. We couldn't hope for better weather. Bright sunny warm days, not too hot for strolling about on the shady side of the streets, and cool refreshing nights perfect for enjoying a walk on the waterfront and for sleeping. Locals will still be sleeping under a light sheet and bathing with hot water, if they have it.

Most of the waterfront restaurants were full of mostly foreigners this evening when Lupita and I walked by. Wonderful to see them doing such good business!

Sea turtles hatched on the downtown beach right before sunset Monday evening, and then the crowds showed up. Some looking for dinner. The woman in the water is trying to scare off the frigate birds to give the baby turtles a better chance. They kept swooping down and trying to catch them, and the pelicans were diving after them, too.

The turtles hatched right behind my wife's chair at TaTa's. The staff did a great job of gathering them up and kept them in a bucket until the sun went down. As soon as they were released the frigate birds appeared out of nowhere! There were actually 3 women in the water trying to keep the birds away and they were pretty successful, I estimate around a dozen of the babies were taken but the vast majority escaped their first brush with death.

Thanks for the back story! That must've been quite a surprise for your wife and you.

I've seen and helped hide several nests around Tata's. One nest had hatched a couple of days previous in the evening, but apparently no one was there and most of the turtle tracks wandered the beach in the wrong direction due to the excessively bright lights along the waterfront that confuse the hatchlings. Unfortunately I see this a lot on the downtown beach.
