I love it here...
It sure has been a struggle since arriving here! Zihuatanejo has so many options for eating out, having a drink while watching live music, having a coffee, etc. It can be quite a task but I am up to it. After coming here for many, many years, I, like many, have my favorites but always willing to try a new spot, especially when I hear good comments about it...So on my first evening, I went for dinner near my hotel at the new British style fish and chips restaurant El Duke. It's a nice young couple that owns the place. She is a Brit and he is from Zihua but worked in England and sure learned how to do the fish and onion rings right. Excellent meal was had and a nice vibe even if I was so tired that I forgot to take pics of the food. They of course don't use cod and usually have a couple options including sailfish and Dorado. It is a small place and closed Sunday and Monday. Their hours are 13:00-21:00. I am someone else that tend to stick to Mexican food only while here but I am glad I tried the place and will go back...Yesterday I needed my espresso fix and was looking forward trying this new place near the Bomberos station that opened last year called Boxha. Excellent espresso and I had a cold drink later in the afternoon and it was excellent too! Last night I had dinner at Los Braseros, an old classic. Still has good as ever even with a new menu. It is a good place to try a few Mexican food items from different regions of Mexico. I had a chicken mole and guacamole with some horchata to down it and it was so good. I was ready for a night on the town after. Dropped by Barracruda bar to check on friends and the band. After a short while, I went to look at the dancers at Bandidos before settling at Ta Rock, just a few meters up from Bandidos. Excellent band playing a mix of English and Spanish music. A more authentic Mexican hang out so not many tourists and the music was great. I think I left around 03:00!!! Today went for breakfast at La Terracita on La Madera. Love that place! Great views with a nice breeze and the food is always great. On my way back to the hotel stopped at Boxha for an espresso and now about to relax before planning the evening...Zihua is great!
