Any indication of this having an impact in Zihua?

None at all. We're enjoying a booming tourist season and we're expecting local hotels will be near full-to-capacity for the upcoming super-long holiday and Carnaval weekend. Might get a little noisy.

Actually, Rob, I noticed yesterday that these warnings have really ramped up. TV, radio, internet are all swamped with these warnings. I was gonna post about it, as the negative affect on local businesses. I know about the warnings that have been standing for years, but this new batch is being put out there with increased vigour. It's probably going to hurt.

You know what else is up? The number of U.S. citizens and Canadians moving permanently to Mexico.

Yep, The wait time at consulates in US for application for Mexico residency is over 4 months now. The line is long and getting longer.

Yes, because you can actually live relatively comfortably here on Social Security versus the US. We take the good with the bad.

Others will know more about this than me, but I wonder how much those people have been affected by the strengthening Mexican peso. If I understand correctly, the peso gas appreciated 11% over the past year. Americans living on US dollars are getting 11% fewer pesos for their US dollar income.

Not as big a deal as you might think. The annual cost of living adjustment for Social Security this year was 8.6% so the loss is only 2.4%. We've lived in Mexico for 11 years. Our SS is converted to Pesos by wise.com and deposited in our Mexican bank. We live on Pesos and don't give the exchange rate much thought.

SO WHILE WE'RE TALKING ABOUT WARNINGS (notice CAPS)

Just yesterday I heard about a couple (from a very reliable source who witnessed part of the after scenario) who had what I would describe as a 'psychotic reaction' to an unknown substance that they don't even know how it was introduced into their bodies.
You can fault me for being alarmist and rumors and gossip, but I have no doubt it happened on La Ropa.
Other than that very few details.
It was a Mexican couple from Queretaro that has already gone back.
They were robbed.
Please I have no more detailed information to share.
There is mention of similar occurrences in some of the neighborhoods affecting locals which doesn't make a lot of sense in terms of what is likely to be able to be robbed.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Remember it was me who was drugged on April 16, 2022 at Mercadito Zanka when a woman (one of 2 I was out with) slipped a drug, probably Rohypnol ('roofies', 'date rape' drug) into a beer.
I was knocked virtually unconscious for 12 hours.
Some of the incident is on video so I have been able to recreate a good portion.
The GOOD news is that they got nothing from me.
Rookies, I guess.

I understand that, and may follow suit, but my point was simply that the campaign to avoid Mexico seems to have really ramped up. Mind you, it is probably just due to spring break.
