What a difference this Monday after such a crazy jam-packed weekend. We were finally able to enjoy our stroll along the pier without wading through endless masses of people. The waterfront seemed quite empty in comparison to previous days.
My wife and a couple of strangers saved a young man's life this past Sunday night. A young man kept trying to start his motorcycle under our bedroom window, then he would just sit on it revving the engine. He was too drunk to remember how to drive, and after finally falling over with the bike on top, passing vehicles stopped and people got out to help him right his bike, but he wouldn't accept anyone's advice to take a taxi or a bus home, even when a taxi driver offered to bring him back the next day. I never cease to be amazed at how truly good and kind some people here are. After getting no satisfaction from our local police, Lupita went downstairs to help convince him to leave his bike. He got it started again, but then almost drove it into our boutique. Finally two very kind men came along who also said they would walk him to the bus stop and get him on the right bus to Pantla. The young man finally accepted the offer of help at the insistence of Lupita, and she made sure he was able to walk with the help of the two extremely helpful and kind men. Early the next morning the young man's father showed up to recover the bike, but he didn't have the key. Finally, the father returned again with the young man who was either still drunk or extremely hung over, and his father got the bike started and rode it home with the young man on the back. We have no doubt the young man would've had a terrible accident trying to ride home at night blind drunk. A life was saved. And it seems to be just another typical day in Mexico.
Rains keep getting closer. Now in the sierra of several municipios of the Costa Grande. Might we get some rain this week? Keeping fingers crossed.
Casa Ki located on the beach in Troncones is by far one of the most idyllic lodgings in the region. Very much what our region is and should be about. About as much relaxation as a person can handle!
