People have been asking me, so since there's a report available today I'll post it. Health officials for Guerrero confirm 7 currently active cases of Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo, 4 in Petatlán, 1 in Técpan, 3 in Atoyac, 2 in Coyuca de Benítez, 81 in Acapulco, and 182 in the entire state.

New emojis! They aren't exactly the same or as easy to type as those on your phone, tablet or computer, but the smiley section got a major facelift today, and I'll add more later when I have time. Took me all morning just to add these. I'm not going to put ALL the ones that there are, like on your phone, but I intend to put many of the ones that folks use a lot. So have some fun with the new emojis/smileys.

Today was another hot one! No , but there's a bit more smoke in the air from . The mar de fondo effect is kicking up some good-sized waves, but the water taxis were able to continue working. Last night the waves reached halfway up what's left of the beach that wasn't paved with concrete by the current municipal administration.

Hardly any tourists around, though the bar at Daniel's on the downtown waterfront was doing a good business with foreigners. Good to see!

If you want to spend a few nights in downtown Zihuatanejo to be right in the middle of things, may I suggest Hotel Plaza Zihua. This small, family-run lodging is the only hotel overlooking the plaza as well as the beach and bay. Care has been taken to provide for peace and quiet in their rooms when you don't wish to listen to events in the plaza.
