Guerrero's health officials confirm 10 currently active cases of Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo, 1 in Técpan, 1 in Atoyac, 1 in Benito Juárez, 2 in Coyuca de Benítez, 109 in Acapulco, and 199 in the entire state.
The heat was on again this Wednesday. Still rather stifling. Hard for some folks to imagine how locals survived here without electricity, but since I did, I still remember quite clearly what it was like. Hammocks made a huge difference in being able to sleep comfortably. Don't forget to drink lots of water!
It still looks like we might get some more rain this weekend. Keeping fingers crossed.
Lots of restaurants are closed or scaling back their hours. Many shops are struggling to remain open with so few visitors around. The streets remain pretty empty much of the day.
Even with hardly any visitors around, the cifras alegres emitted by Turismo del Estado report something like 61% occupancy in our hotels. Their numbers often seem totally made up and unrelated to what we see and experience here.
Now's a great time to take advantage of the low summer rates offered by most lodgings. One beautiful lodging overlooking Zihuatanejo's bay offering good deals for the summer is Villas San Sebastián. Nine luxurious air-conditioned vacation villas above La Ropa Beach with a panoramic view. Lovely pool and gardens. Private and peaceful.
