A gentle rain Sunday evening made for perfect sleeping weather, but we didn't get anything near the amount of wind or rain from the passing tropical disturbance that other communities received. Just a nice refreshing breeze and a light rain that cooled things down enough to sleep under a sheet.

It looks like we may get some more rain during this week, especially the latter part, as onda tropical #18 passes through. Odd for this time of year but certainly welcome. It also looks like we'll get some wave action within the next 4 days or so.

As some of you may have read or heard, Playa Principal was determined by COFEPRIS to be NOT APT FOR SWIMMING due to pollution. It made national news. There has been absolutely no response to this news from the local government. I believe the federal government's testing methodology is unreliable. They were here for the first 2 weeks of July when it was still raining. Except for brief sprinkles and last night's light rain, it hasn't rained here in over 3 weeks. The municipal government has touted numerous times that they do regular testing, but unfortunately they've never made those test results public. Now would be a good time to do so if those tests actually exist. We're losing tourists because of this news while the mayor touts the recent Pueblo Mágico designation and continues pouring his company's cement in every corner of the community he can find. While I don't doubt we shouldn't swim in the bay after a heavy rain, I see no reason not to at the moment.
