Another day without hardly a sighting of any tourists. Amazing how Zihuatanejo comes practically to a standstill when there aren't any visitors out and about. Yes, we still do our thing, but shops sit idle or closed and the streets are mostly quiet.

After last Sunday night's gusting winds and brief rain, we didn't receive any more rain. Monday was as lovely a day in the tropics as it gets. Sunny skies with some beautiful puffy cumulus clouds. We still have sets of large waves rolling in from the mar de fondo effect, and they'll likely continue as Tropical Depression 11-E grows off our coast on its way past.

For those who slurp'em, ostiones are back in season as of September 1. I don't recommend eating any harvested from Zihuatanejo's bay, where unfortunately too many of them still come from. And the rainy season when their habitats often receive the outflow of rivers, arroyos and lagoons is not an ideal time of year for ordering them here, IMHO. Few communities in our region have wastewater treatment plants, and even fewer have wastewater treatment plants that work well.

There's an amazing lodging on the beach in Troncones called Casa Maya, An affordable yet luxurious oceanfront compound at Manzanillo Beach featuring four 1BR bungalow suites with A/C, each one a work of art using handcrafted local designs and materials. They share a large palapa that functions as a living area with a bar and kitchen in front of a pool overlooking the beach, a short walk from one of the best point breaks for surfing along the Pacific Coast of Mexico. Rent a suite or the entire villa.

Una de las palapas recién construida en Playa La Madera por el ayuntamiento. Si fuera mi propiedad cuya vista fue bloqueada por la altura excesiva de la palapa, yo sí estaría muy molesto.
