According to Guerrero's state health officials, as of 4 days ago (but only made public today), there were 26 active cases of Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo, 2 in Petatlán, 1 in Atoyac, 8 in Acapulco, and 94 in the entire state. Once again Zihuatanejo is #1.
Two seismic events in Jalisco and one further down the coast near Coyuca de Benítez kept us on our toes today.
There's usually good music and dancing in the Plaza del Artista on Friday early in the evening. Come enjoy the good vibes and relax by the bay. There's no better place to be in Zihuatanejo than on the waterfront surrounded by locals enjoying themselves.
No rain so far on this beautiful Friday in Zihuatanejo. There's been some sunshine and then some clouds and now it's kind of hazy with barely any discernible breeze. The ocean has been calm and inviting all day. Beer weather.

Isn't it odd that Acapulco, with a population 10 or 15 times that of Zihua's, always has far fewer COVID cases? Put another way, a small city with 2 or 3 % of Guerrero's population has 28% of the current COVID cases.
Do state health officials have something against Zihua? Or is Zihua particularly unhealthy?

That's the stupid thing about these statistics--they never say how many people were tested.

That's the stupid thing about these statistics--they never say how many people were tested.
People are tested when they show up ill at a local clinic or doctor's office. Nothing stupid about it. Sometimes there are more ill showing up in Acapulco, sometimes in Zihuatanejo. Drawing any conclusion on the # of positive results from the # of people tested is what appears stupid to me. There's just no need to go around testing healthy people. Except for the pandemia rules by the airlines testing everyone who wanted to fly, it's been a huge difference between Mexico and the USA/Canadian approach since the pandemic began.
