Thursday was a warm day with very little breeze. Storms danced around us on the horizon during the night and part of the day. There's a nice little rumbler to the east of us at the moment coming our way, but they seem to peter out just as they get here, and all we get is a light show, maybe a warm dusty breeze, and maybe a little sprinkle. Keeping fingers crossed. We need the rain, but there ain't a tropical wave in sight.

If you want to enjoy El Grito con Jorgito be at the explanada of the ayuntamiento Friday evening at 8:00 PM. There will be free food and drinks. Kevlar is recommended.

Tomorrow night could get a little crazy with folks drinking in excess. We often stay home and watch the events in Mexico City's Zócalo with the Presidente. The fireworks are often excessive, the smoke ruins visibility, and they threaten to cause damage to the Catedral, but apparently the government doesn't care and they detonate more and bigger fireworks every year. Here in Zihuatanejo the city will have fireworks at the ayuntamiento, but there are always a few folks that light them off all night long wherever they feel like it, including the beaches and the streets, so be ready, and if you have pets, keep them close by and your doors or gates closed so they don't run off. Lots of dogs end up lost in the streets and beaches after big fireworks displays.

[image]A good place to try to get lost on the beach is in Troncones, though the good people there will always help you find your way. Casa Tropicana is a nice little hideaway in Troncones located on the street across from the beach within easy walking of the village shops and restaurants. They offer a lovely 2-story vacation home made up of two spacious modern apartments with fully equipped kitchens and a shared pool. Rent the bottom apartment individually or the entire home.

It is also highly recommended *not* to join the festivities in Tijuana or Rosarito. I wonder if people believe that bullets don't return to Earth? There is actually a Grito at the Mexican Consulate in San Diego with a few thousand gathering there at the more godly hour of 8 pm.

Rob or anyone, do you know how to live stream the Mexico City Grito online? I could not find anything for 2023 online, just a reference to a link to a website that promised to live stream the event several years ago but it appears now to be completely unrelated to Mexico.
