The local hotel occupancy numbers many of us refer to as cifras alegres seem quite low for this time of year. Not sure if there've been cancellations or it's just a lull, like the calm before the storm. Hoping it's the latter.

Seemed almost chilly this morning with just a fan on low. Had to snuggle with my sweetie to keep warm. In the higher elevations of Guerrero they've been getting some outright cold temps. Still a slight chance of rain in the region.

Besides being the luckiest Gringo in Mexico, I'm also one of the proudest dads and grandads. B-)

Not sure what happened to all the extra security the local and state governments boasted about for the holidays. Not seeing any of it here downtown. Every year for the holiday season there are photos in the local newspapers of all the police and military supposedly assigned here, but I'm not seeing them. Anyone else?

The small cocodrilo has been spotted again in the canal "La Boquita". Good news! I thought it'd been removed.

We aren't seeing any extra "police" type coverage, but we live on the main road to la Ropa, so what do we know?

So happy to hear that the cocodrillito is likely still in his home territory. Safety is one thing, the normal flora and fauna is another.

Life is wonderful!!!

I think that little croc hides when there's noise and lots of people - we used to see it more often before the holiday crowds started up.

Yes, too many of the little monsters... I mean tourist children... throw rocks at it. Often with their parents right there watching. Pisses me off!

Yep, we've seen that, too.

I've seen far fewer people out in our goto restaurants this year. It's kind of worrisome for those owners and their wait staff when 1/3 full is about all they seem to get. And, it seems to be more Mexican families and fewer foreigners. I wonder if it's the food inflation. A 300 peso entree from last year is often 360 now. When you combine that with 17 pesos to the dollar, restaurants are not much less than in the US. With no appetizer, two entrees and two drinks plus tip, I spent 1,500 pesos last night.

Not sure which restaurants you cater to in the US, but an "equivalent" meal in Zih is still a deal compared to the US. A decent meal in the US is no longer at a decent price.
