Looking for an old school Rat trap.

We tried the glue traps and I think this Dude is on to them.
In any case, I'd prefer something that is reusable like the old school Victor traps we have at home.
Anybody seen them? And where specifically?

Thank you.

You have a rat IN your home or outside?

Please try a method that doesn't involve killing the creature. There are humane traps (I know, an oxymoron) such as a cage trap that don't snap shut and maim or injure the rat or electrocute it. Normally other animals in our ecosystem would keep them under control, but humans have invaded so much land and displaced so many other animals that we need to be more careful. Ferreterías and veterinarios usually carry these, but they are also available online.

The Rat enters the house nightly and defecates / urinates on the contents of the linen closets. I did see it running across the Tereza wall at first light but that's about it.
The owner wants to put out poison, I thought killing one Rat was better than introducing poison into a food chain.

How: This is the most complex of the "better" mousetraps. The idea is to lure an animal in and then put a bell around its neck. Then when the rat returns to its nest, it will scare away its fellow rats, effectively "exterminating" them.

The breakthrough: Patented in 1908, the design hinges on the idea of rats as "sly and distrustful" enough that a bell would humanely, cheaply, and quickly rid a house of a rat colony through fear alone.

The lesser of two evils is still not a great choice, but yeah, I'm with you. Why not simply have a cat?

If a rat had a choice, I suspect it would prefer having its neck broken in a trap, rather than being eaten alive by a cat.

Where there's one rat there are usually a few dozen more. They will avoid the cat altogether and go back to the woods where hopefully a nice snake or raptor bird will find them.

It's highly unlikely that a rat's IQ is that high.

2000 rats surveyed agreed with this.

Rat season in Kelowna is mid Oct til mid Nov....this is the go to trap

Well, I guess I trap them out of season in Okanagan Falls. LOL...
Rats are disease carrying vermin and I kill every one I find.
Having known 2 people that have died horrible deaths from hantavirus, I give them no mercy.
Not to mention the damage they cause and the costs involved.

Jeez people, they are Rats not Labradors.
I also indiscriminately kill literally millions of Ants, Roaches, Mice, Hornets, Mosquitoes etc... every year.

I can vouch for this trap. Fall is the time when they look to get into the house, but I keep this set up year round. Having grown up in Alberta, Canada's rat free province, I just don't deal well with rats!

The man was asking where to find a trap. Posted with a link to Amazon Mexico and Rob suggested the hardware stores. None of this other crap has anything to do with what the man asked. No one gives a crap about Rat Season in Canada, or bells on a Cat, mice, roaches, snakes or dumb ass white dudes in speedo's. Just Where to find a Trap.....Stick to the subject matter.

Just cockroaches, the ones for the mosquitos are so small even the other mosquitos can't hear them.

Central Mercado... Both snap and cage traps, very cheap. On the side by Benito Juarez.

I looked there yesterday, he had the cage trap but no snap.
I didn't see anybody else with them but I'm horrible at finding things.

Go to THE hardware store in Zihua on Calle Cuauhtémoc (middle of the block). I tried the sticky stuff several times, didn't work. Tried the screen cage, released them; they found their way back. The old-fashioned kind, with a little peanut butter, did the trick... three times; Dad, Mom and child. When my neighbors saw the results, they all wanted to borrow my trap; we no longer have mice/rats in our complex. Happy Hunting!

Thank you very much!
I will do that today.
FYI, we tried Peanut Butter as a bait and it took no time at all before a hoard of ants found it.
Well Duh... that's why we keep peanut butter in the fridge.

What a relief. And no need to reinvent the mouse trap....Amazing.
