We brought some reading glasses down for the fishermen to use to mend their nets. Is Lupita still collecting them? Where do we take them? Thank you.

Hola Kathy. Thank you thank you thank you! Even though Lupita has stopped doing this, for the fishermen she says she'll gladly accept the glasses and be sure that they receive them. She asks that you please drop them off in the morning while she's in the boutique. Again, thank you so much for caring!

Nets are indiscriminate and BAD for the environment. PLEASE make sure NO net fisherman get glasses.

Thats pretty harsh to suggest that fisherman using nets should not benefit from having their vision improved. Glad I don t knowing live near your kingdom!

TOO BAD! Nets kill EVERYTHING!
It is said that certain people need to hear something 3 times or more!
I want glasses to go to fisherman that tie knots on hooks>>>>NOT checking holes in their nets!

Just curious: Is there a difference between large-scale net fishing in the open ocean and the locals using nets close to the shore in the bay?
Disclaimer: This is not an attempt to inflame this conversation. Personally, I have not fished since our father took us out on a boat to go fishing several lifetimes ago. I don't eat fish. I get seasick in a bathtub. The trip from the muelle to Las Gatas is just enough "on the water" time for me, thank you very much, and I prefer to hike and only use the lancha if I am too tired to walk back to La Ropa.

The Zihua Food Bank also distributes school supplies and will accept donations at their table at the Saturday Eco-tianguis Market. Or email me and I can connect you to them.
