Came in yesterday, we had 3 large suitcases so was certain that we would be searched. I had my wife put on her large silver necklace and only bring about 10 earrings, I even wore a money belt and one of the suitcases actually had a ceiling fan in it. Put everything through the scanner, got the green light and walked out the door. WTF, is this actually Zihuatanejo? There was a Westjet plane in front of use but the line moved at a good pace for customs.

We had two checked and two carry-ons. Only flight on the deck. Went pretty smooth. Talked to the guy and got green light, he said OK but then some lady came over and stopped us looking for an imaginary apple.
After a 5-minute search we went on our way.
As a side note> Aduana had more people working in it in ZIH than each time we came through Mexico City this summer. How and why is THAT!!!

.....and is Zihua still the only airport without luggage carts?

No luggage carts but there are porters there to help you for a tip. You still have to put the luggage through the scanners yourself, the porters are after you exit customs.

Glad to hear it. Maybe there has been a change since we got here a few months ago. Got the green light and still got fleeced for $190 US. Last year, my neighbor upstairs brought a spotting scope to put on a tripod for whale watching. He got told it was illegal because it could be used with a firearm and then they graciously hit him up for $600 and allowed him to keep it. He could have flown in direct from the US next week, but is coming through Mexico City since he is bringing it again this year.
