Your first mistake is to take the taxi from the taxi stand, known as a sitio. They're allowed to charge inflated rates. Better to call a taxi and pay the extra 5 pesos than to use a sitio taxi and pay much more.
It should only cost you 45 pesos maximum from any part of La Ropa to Orient Bay. That is the minimum charge.

Thank-you. Rob.
I didn’t realize that they can charge you more from that stand.
I thought they all had to abide by the rates.
The taxi stand across from Orient Bay has always charged me 50.
First mistake I made was not to ask rate.
That was a rookie mistake.
I’ve taken this trip multiple times and it’s been 45-50 pesos.
Driver tried to charge me 70.

45-50 pesos is fine. We had a similar experience as yours a few years back going from the old Kau-Kan when it was across the street from Orient Bay to the Casa Que Canta. Driver wanted something like 70 or 80 pesos.

For it to happen to you is remarkable.
I have found there is a tax whenever you say Thompson or Casa Que Canta.
Extra 20-40 pesos immediately.
We were coming up from beach.
Not getting a taxi at Thompson.

We had family visiting from Mexico City and "the heat" was rough on them, and my wife gave me one of those hand squeezes we use as a secret code: telling me not to argue, to just let it be. I always obey la reina de mi alma.
