2 cards rejected at 4 different Banks today. Finally got pesos at Scotiabank; US exchange rate was 14.4. All on-line sources list exchange rate slightly over 17. Am I missing something other than it’s the Scotiabank Bank? Most often I get just about exactly what the online exchange rate is reported. Apologies for bringing back such a reoccurring subject.

It appears you agreed to an offered exchange rate (near the end of your transaction). Next time, reject the offered rate and the transaction will continue at a proper rate.

Well that’s a real Gotchu isn’t it! Then they’ve got the nerve to ask you if you’d like to take out insurance on your withdrawal for 30 pesos more.

I think the insurance covers the injuries you get when you faint after you realize you’ve been screwed by dynamic currency conversion.
