I tried searching for "tanning cream" and got nothing. Then for "sun block" and got a bunch of into about a Troncones hotel.
Question: Where do you find the most economical low-number tanning cream or sun-block?
I don't ever see low number tanning cream these days anywhere, in fact. Mostly see only 30, 40 and 100. My 30 year old stash of 8 & 15 is finally running out and I'm going to have to break down and buy some. Thanks!

Most farmacia's if not all have it as does Bodega, Sorianna and Sam's finally got multi packs in. 50 is the most common and none are cheap, Carribean Breeze is cheaper. Sometimes they have specials on closer to Samana Santa.

It takes serious homework. As you obviously know, nothing over 15 is particularly safe or effective or OK on your skin much less coral safe.
When we moved here, we brought a bunch with us. It has since expired, and we are being careful just to not be out during the bad times. We still spend about 3 hours on the beach and water daily but early.

I use baby oil and get a nice tan from that. Just remember do not stay in the sun very long because it works very fast.

I wouldn’t bother. You might have not been using sunscreen anyway for the past 27 years.
Is sunscreen from last year still good? When does sunscreen expire?
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration requires that sunscreen remain at its original strength for at least three years. That means you can use leftover sunscreen from one year to the next.
Some sunscreens include an expiration date — the date when they're no longer effective. Throw out sunscreen that is past its expiration date. If you get sunscreen that doesn't have an expiration date, write the date you bought it on the bottle. Throw out the bottle when three years have passed since that date.
I appreciate the importance of using sunscreen. My mother had skin cancer on the end of her nose and had it removed. A friend who has Celtic heritage had skin cancer removed.
I used SPF 15 for a couple of years back when that was the strongest available, but I realized that I was sweating it off quickly and not reapplying. I have been fortunate so far after decades of enjoying outdoor activities and remaining cancer-free.

Anecdotal “research” is always the best.

Yea, I'm getting up in years, already got mild cancer (or slow working they say) so may as well go for broke
. After years and years I've found that the 15 will keep me from being up all night tying myself and my sheet in knots with notable pain. And I know if you are like me, you get sick of these stories but Dad didn't know what sun cream was and drove a tractor without a shirt until he died at 96 and even then he tripped and fell to crack his head on concrete is why we lost him. I just use 15 because I'm sort of an insomniac anyway and not wanting to be in agonizing pain all night. Now there you have another example why it's fruitless to post to social media, you go to all the trouble and make the time and effort to write up an analogy and some ass comes back with a comment like mine of "been there, done that". LOL. But you do get a double gold star for being kind enough to share the good info. THANKS!!!!
