Are things open in April?

You might actually find two or three restaurants that aren't open. Others may reduce their hours a bit after a very busy winter season. Unless you know the area very well, you won't notice any difference.

Never been to Zihuatanejo and thinking of going for a week mid-April. I heard that some things will be closed. Are there still things that will be open, or should I plan to go another time during high season?

The only thing closed in April are maybe a handful of restaurants that cater to people from the USA and Canada. You'll never miss them.
