It wasn't until past 8PM Sunday night that the first float from the Carnaval parade made its way around the corner between the museum and the school to head down Juan N. Álvarez street. Over an hour after the time announced for the parade to begin. Not sure what the holdup was, but it was an extremely lively and fun event, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The music was very good. The costumes were colorful and well made. As in previous years, the floats have apparently gotten bigger than our streets, and they have a difficult time trying to make the curve and the narrow part of the street between the museum and the school, including between our home and the Hotel Susy. So by the time we saw the floats some of them had been bent if not broken or "modified" a bit. Also, as in previous years, there were some extremely long delays between some of the processions. After we called it quits and went inside our home, thinking it was all over, several more floats came by about a half hour later, but like us many other spectators had also thought the parade was over and had left. But it was still a huge success! A totally enjoyable event. Locals and visitors appeared thoroughly delighted, and that's what counts.

After another warm day with a balmy tropical breeze and light seas, a cold front reached us and the wind became stronger and the air turned cooler right around sunset. All our friends were joking about needing a sweater or a jacket. Had us shivering on our evening stroll even though it was only around 23°C out.

A truly lovely and extremely comfortable colonial-style boutique hotel with a pool offering different sized rooms and suites, perfect for couples, all with air-conditioning, cable TV and wi-fi internet access. Conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood two blocks from La Madera Beach in the Darío Galeana neighborhood near the fire department.

Los carros alegóricos del Carnaval tuvieron algo de dificultad con la parte más angosta de la calle Juan N. Álvarez donde se encuentra mi casa. Apenas pudieron pasar frente a la terraza de Café Caracol.

3rd parade, 2nd year in a row. I love the parades! Same thing happened last year with the delay thinking it was over. I assume some delays were because of the floats stopping in front of the VIP stand as per a few years ago when I was across the street.

The floats were fabulous. Congratulations to all involved.
