The downtown beach and Playa Las Gatas were very busy today and full of visitors enjoying our perfect weather and natural beauty. Many people arrived early by bus, dragging suitcases on wheels and coolers full of food and drinks. While they are certainly welcome, and we enjoy having them here, unfortunately they don't have the purchasing power to sustain our community. While the mayor is busy awarding himself public contracts to pour more of his company's cement at the expense of our trees and natural landscape, Zihuatanejo continues suffering from his myopic self-serving neglect. The fact that it's an election year only seems to amplify all our problems. If his wife becomes mayor we can only expect more of the same self-serving actions. I wish I could be more optimistic, but actions speak louder than all their campaign promises.

If you're downtown during the daytime be sure to enjoy a coffee at the Café Caracol's terrace overlooking Plaza del Artista and Calle Juan N. Álvarez. Or enjoy a delicious and refreshing coconut expertly prepared by the elderly gentleman on the corner of Juan N. Álvarez & Vicente Guerrero streets across from Plaza del Artista.

Our weather continues to be absolutely amazing. No heat wave here. Evenings and early mornings are still refreshing. Weather so perfect it's hard to believe. And the long range forecast shows the tropical convergence zone moving northward, and the rains getting closer. Soon come!
