Today, May 15, was Día del Maestro in Mexico. Another day when students miss classes while we recognize the teaching profession. ¡Felicidades a los verdaderos maestros!

Today also marks the official beginning of our Temporada de Huracanes. While some folks are making a lot of noise about an area of tropical disturbance to our south, the ocean temperature along our coast remains way too cool for a hurricane. But we'll gladly accept any rain it could send our way. The water temp in Zihuatanejo Bay barely reached 25.4°C today, and outside the bay it seems to be a tad cooler.

It felt a tad warmer today than previous days, but it was still quite comfortable anywhere in the shade. Hardly any tourists around even though there was no school today, and I don't believe there will be classes the rest of the week. Poor students.

Not a day passes that I don't give thanks to be right here and with my amazing wife! She spoils me rotten but makes me a better person. I've never met another woman like her. I just may be the luckiest Gringo in Mexico.

This Thursday is jueves pozolero. Enjoy a mezcal or tequila along with one of Guerrero's most traditional dishes. You can find some good pozole restaurants on my Restaurants page. I prefer pozole blanco con puerco with all the fixins. And my favorite pozolería is El Profe in Coacoyul. How about you?
