The sea temperature nudged its way back up a bit above 26°C here in Zihuatanejo's bay, and the downtown beach was full of swimmers and sunbathers throughout the day and past sunset. While we've had no rain here, it rained in other parts of Guerrero today as well as in parts of Michoacán including Pátzcuaro. The chances of precipitation appear to increase in the coming days, especially after next weekend, but that's a long ways off. The tropical disturbance to our south has fizzled out.

The cifras alegres emitted by the state's tourism office say Zihuatanejo had a high hotel occupancy rate this weekend, which is good to hear. We had some sales along with other shop owner friends, and of course we are quite appreciative of the business. Of course, most of the waterfront restaurants also do a good business whether it's only a family of 10 sharing snacks and soft drinks or a couple enjoying a full meal and drinks. One thing that's noticeable is there are hardly any foreigners around. This Sunday saw a massive exodus of vehicles heading back to their inland origins.

From now until school lets out in the middle of July our tourism industry will rely on the weekend warriors, mostly the autobuseros, meaning it's going to be a long slow haul until the summer vacation period starts in mid-July. It's usually a time of increased crime, so be alert.

La mascota llamada Toshka del vecino restaurante de botanas "Toshkana" es muy conocido entre los vecinos y muy querido. Estaba descansando con sus lentes para el sol pero nos dio una gran sonrisa para la foto.
