Vuelve la Vida SenZIHlla
Another picture-postcard-perfect day in our lovely little paradise! A nice breeze blew all the smoke away and left the skies clean in the evening with no smell of smoke. Still no rain in the forecast, though the coming weekend is looking interesting. The water in Zihuatanejo remains clear and inviting, and recent testing shows it to be well within healthy limits for swimming. The mar de fondo showed up late, but so far the waves don't seem very large. There have, however, been some small malaguas (jellyfish) in the bay recently. Many of the swimmers who crossed the bay said they ran into a mass of them near Playa Las Gatas, and today people were avoiding swimming at Playa Principal. The presence of malaguas means there should also be sea turtles around since they are one of their favorite foods.
There seems to be a collective sigh of relief that the elections are over, though I keep seeing U.S. media trying to stoke fear about Mexico's Morena social movement. Don't fall for the fear and the hype. Mexico continues moving forward and progressing in its communities, its states and at the national level. Now that the elections are over the bolsa mexicana is recovering, though the peso is still taking a hit. I expect it will recover and stabilize soon. Our new president doesn't take office until October so nothing of substance has changed.
Truly one of the loveliest vacation lodgings at La Ropa in one of the most peaceful areas of our community is Villa Zanzibar, tucked away in the old original La Ropa community at the southern end of the beach a short easy walk uphill from the end of the beach.
