ZIHn Lluvia Seguimos Sala'o
Last night's storm that rolled along our coast didn't leave a drop of rain in downtown Zihuatanejo or any other part that I'm aware of along our immediate coast, though the sierra of Zihuatanejo and from Petatlán southwards got some rain. Many of my friends and neighbors were joking this morning that we're sala'o. A local expression meaning unlucky.
Friday turned into one of the loveliest we've had all year, though even in the bay there was some light chop in the water from the near constant breeze. Our tourists seemed unmiffed.
BE WARNED that the dredging project has started in Laguna Las Salinas. If the city were concerned about people's health, the beaches in Zihuatanejo's bay would be closed to bathers right now. Besides the biological mess at the bottom of the lagoon, I also worry about chemicals and heavy metals that no one is testing for. Same that can also be found at the bottom of the bay thanks in large part to the espigón that Puerto Mío was allowed to build that ruined the bay's naturally cleansing currents.
Don't forget to visit the Eco-Tianguis "Sanka" this Saturday morning from 9:30 to 1:00 in the school plaza across the street from the Museo. Lots of good food and other goodies there!
If you're looking to pamper yourself, Casa Mi Corazón is a luxurious 3-bedroom 3-story vacation rental home located atop the small hill at La Madera just steps from the beach with a panoramic view of Zihuatanejo Bay and the downtown area. Within easy walking distance to downtown restaurants and shopping. Amenities include a rooftop palapa living and dining area with a pool, air-conditioned bedrooms, and wireless internet.
