As of this Tuesday evening, Huracán John has cost the lives of 3 Guerrerenses. It's only a tropical depression at the moment, but it's hovering a short ways off the coast right in front of Zihuatanejo and it's expected to form back up and slam back into the coast very close to us. The rain has been a constant all over the state, sometimes quite intense, but so far we've experienced no further strong winds after last evening's rather harrowing episode. It looks like this is going to be our weather for the next several days. The wind is the only thing my wife and I are concerned about, but the rains have caused problems for other folks and communities. It looks like we're going to quickly make up for much of the rain we hadn't received this season.

Schools will remain closed for another day throughout the state. The port of Zihuatanejo remains closed to all vessels. Keeping fingers crossed the storm doesn't regain strength or hit us.

Needless to say, there are no tourists about, though many are writing and asking about the weather. The local webcams kind of speak for themselves.

An inviting place that will leave you wanting more of what they have to offer: a luxury bed and breakfast boutique hotel in a private villa overlooking La Ropa Beach with only 4 suites, a restaurant and a unique pool bar lounge offering a panoramic view of Zihuatanejo Bay and its beaches. They also have a two gourmet open-air restaurants that will transport you to a magical place full of temptations.

We so agree with your observations on the weather now. Hopefully it will continue as you mention/predict. More of the same, no hurricanes here, just continue to miss us and rain.

We were on a combi yesterday (Tuesday) morning where we found four national tourists in swimsuits carrying their towels, etc. They were (they thought) going to La Ropa, but were nervously looking out the windows at all the rain. Well, wet is wet. I hope they had fun.
