The rain that was forecast for this Saturday never appeared, and the chances of it raining in the coming days appears to have diminished. But quite a few visitors showed up. Zihuatanejo's downtown beach got busy rather early. A group of swimmers showed up, people who didn't necessarily look like athletes, most with flotation devices, and they struck out from Playa Principal for Playa Las Gatas around 7:00 this morning accompanied by two boats. They weren't swimming very fast. From what I could see it looked like they were pacing themselves and in no hurry. The water was quite calm and certainly warm enough not to hinder them. The last I saw they were a little over halfway to Las Gatas and I didn't see anyone give up. Good for them!

The downtown waterfront and plazas were busy with people this Saturday evening, mostly Mexicans, but the arrival of more folks from north of the border is increasingly noticeable. Plaza del Artista has artists showing and selling their art, as they do every Saturday evening, and a small group of musicians are playing some very nice soft music to a growing crowd full of smiling faces. It's a very relaxed and laid back atmosphere. I like it like that!

Things seemed to have calmed down to the south of Zihuatanejo along the Costa Grande, and travel to Acapulco is returning to normal. Good news for tourism and for our residents who need to travel back and forth.
