La FeliZIHdad de Una Vida Privilegiada
We enjoyed another subtly painted yet still quite colorful sky before sunrise this Friday in Zihuatanejo. The cool mornings make it easy to enjoy being outside early, and besides the usual locals, apparently many of our visitors also appreciate it. The number of folks from north of the border continues to increase noticeably, and many of them were up and out early this morning walking and jogging and taking in the sights, sounds and smells of Zihuatanejo. Such a difference from one month ago!
During our evening stroll, Lupita and I noticed almost all the waterfront restaurants were full of extranjeros. A wonderful sight to see. Several people hailed us to greet us and to thank me for helping them either with info they found on my website or via e-mail correspondence when I helped them to resolve a particular problem. I'm always humbled and don't know how to respond to accolades, but it motivates me to keep doing what I do and it keeps me thankful to be able to keep running in my little hamster wheel.
As those of you who have been married for a long time know, there are no guarantees. Finding the person with whom one can spend the rest of their life seems impossible for most people. Circumstances can throw people together or tear them apart. But after 3 and a half decades with my Lupita, I still fall in love with her every single day. I still see her with the same eyes as that fateful day on Playa La Ropa over 50 years ago when it was love at first sight for the first time. She still makes me weak in my knees, and when I hug her I don't want to stop. She makes me appreciate every single day with her. Every single day seems like the best day of my life even though we're mostly homebodies and our easygoing low-key small-town lifestyle would probably bore most folks to death. But I still feel, and Google agrees with me, like the luckiest Gringo in Mexico. Go ahead and Google it.
Don't miss the Eco-Tianguis "Sanka" across the street from the Museo Arqueológico de la Costa Grande from 9 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. this Saturday morning. And in La Ropa next to Casa Tucanes is "Las Iguanas Bazar" every Saturday and Sunday from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. with local artisans and merchants and lots of sustainable products.
Villas Troncones on Troncones Beach is a lovely lodging away from the crowds with the beach out your front door and where the night sky can still be appreciated. Ten villas featuring from 1 to 5 bedrooms surrounding a pool. All villas have ceiling fans, A/C and kitchens. Meals are available prepared on property. Located within easy walking distance of other restaurants, convenience stores and the village.
