Short Trip Report

Arrived from Calgary on Jan 13. Full plane. There were a few young passengers and families but for the most part an older crowd. On the taxi ride in to La Ropa area, the taxi driver told us they refer to the area as “little Canada”. So far Zihua and the beaches seem slightly less busy than last year. But as February approaches it always picks up. Just a reminder that Feb 5 is a holiday but the actual day off for institutions such as banks and schools seems to move to Monday, Feb 3. That means this coming weekend will be a long weekend for many families. The beaches & restaurants will be busier and the ATM’s tend to have a run on funds. Plan accordingly!
I am a morning walker and by the time I hit the beach at 7:15, the workers are already hard at work cleaning the beach. They do such a good job! The ocean as Rob has mentioned is the perfect temp. The water has been calm and clear. Everyone seems to enjoy their swimming time. The weather has been great. We arrived just after the big rain so things have been green & lush compared to past years. This of course has meant an onslaught of mosquitos. Spray is necessary for those of you who are bug magnets such as myself! The days have been sunny for the most part although lots of clouds seem to build in the late afternoon. There have been a couple of really hot days where there has been very little air movement but for the most part a nice ocean breeze starts up by noonish making it great to spend time on the beach. We have noticed a lack of pelicans. There doesn’t seem to be the bait fish in the bay this year so the birds have gone elsewhere to find food.
We have eaten out a number of times. All the old faithfuls have delivered! Excellent meals at Agave, El Manglar, Lety’s, La Tasca, El Murmalla and Chuleto’s. My spouse was very impressed with the burger served at Brazzo which is on La Ropa road past Jungle Pizza towards La Gaviota end.
As we age, we have a much deeper appreciation for this lovely paradise. It is such a magical & welcoming place in a world that is increasingly distraught. We look forward to our time here!

Thank you for such a nice trip report! It is much appreciated!

Don't forget to shuffle your feet when walking in the ocean due to the presence of stingrays.
