2. I don't think they wanted to be seen. I believe they launched and didn't get the transponder mode set correctly. I think that because the "other" mission went out quietly and flew in the mission area quietly. If they "wanted" to be seen to send some sort of message, they would have gone out transmitting ADSB data instead of the track being fixed via multi-lateration (MLAT).

Good point...if Drumpf is going to treat the cartels as terrorists and use RICO aren't the American consumers of such drugs complicit in the whole affair? Imagine when they too start getting hit with lengthy prison terms or sent off to penal camps. Nothing would surprise me at this point.
