There wasn't any noticeable amount of smoke in the air this Monday morning, and the fog seems to have disappeared. The waves were down considerably from what they had been these past several days, and the bay seemed much calmer, so there was much less ocean spray, though at sunrise some was still evident, as you can see in today's photo below.

A strawberry licuado and fresh pan dulce was a wonderful way to start the day! My girls sure spoil me rotten! ¡Vivan las mujeres mexicanas! They are another reason I feel like the luckiest Gringo in Mexico.

The mother whale and her calf were again in Zihuatanejo's bay today. I'm guessing she's trying to fatten the little one up and get it ready for the journey. I hope she finds a group of mothers and calves she can travel back up north with, but I don't know if there are still any humpback whales in the area. I continued seeing a lack of vigilance by local authorities while tourist boats were literally driving right over them. A damn shame local authorities still don't take protecting them more seriously.

Beaches were full again today. The tourists began arriving at dawn, many with their suitcases and coolers in tow. Some had left a mess on the beach from the previous night. Again, a shame local authorities don't have the Policía Turística or some other authority monitoring the beaches during these two weeks. The local and state authorities always make a big photo up of all the extra "security" for the vacation season, and then we see nothing where there should be more security.

One of the nicer more affordable vacation rentals in La Madera neighborhood is Casa Linda located atop the small hill at La Madera with views of the bay and town. Three apartments that can be rented all together or individually, each beautifully decorated with Mexican handcrafts. One with two en-suite bedrooms and two with one bedroom each as well as a sofa or pull out bed. All with full kitchens, living area, balconies, and shared access to a garden with BBQ facilities as well as the rooftop terrace.
