Belleza PreZIHosa
Though I've lived here 24/7/365 for over half my life, I still awaken each morning marvelling at what natural beauty we still have and extremely thankful to be right where I am. Today was no exception. It's still cool enough at night to sleep under sheets with the windows open. Our mornings remain refreshing, and our days are mild and sunny with enough breeze most of the day to remain quite comfortable in a hammock in the shade.
People were at the downtown beach swimming as the sun rose this Thursday morning. The mar de fondo event never seemed to increase much over what it had already been, though the warning by the official weather services and the Marina persists. Hopefully we'll continue to enjoy calmer seas through this final weekend of Semana de Pascua when we expect a final surge of tourists to arrive. Sales haven't been great, but they've been fairly steady for many local merchants. We continue seeing more middle-class visitors than usual, though most waterfront restaurants weren't very busy this evening, but other downtown restaurants were still doing a decent business.
These are the final days of the Feria de Petatlán, a great time to visit what used to be the largest town in the region when I first arrived here, where my suegro was born in 1901 and where we still have family.
Tucked away on a quiet street in La Madera neighborhood is the lovely vacation inn, Villa Cruz del Mar. A colonial-style home converted into a small family-run vacation inn featuring 12 comfortable air-conditioned rooms, some with kitchenettes, all with cable TV, surrounding an enclosed garden courtyard with a pool. Free wireless internet access and secure parking. Located less than 100 yards from the beach.
