This past Sunday was quite the day for sports. Formula 1 in Monaco, the Indy 500, and the Final de la Liga Mexicana. It was a perfect excuse to beat the heat by staying indoors. Last night's fútbol game had half the country rooting for América and the other half for Toluca. Toluca's victory in their own stadium had fans crying with emotion and joy since it had been 15 years since they'd won a league championship. Maybe you heard the shouts from nearby homes and bars.

Today was a typical off-season day with practically no tourists around. The downtown beach was mostly empty as were its restaurants, though this evening there were more people at the beach than had been during the rest of the day. It didn't look like Las Gatas did much business. Don't know about Isla Ixtapa, but these are the best days to visit either place or any other beach in the area.

The mar de fondo seemed rather mild today compared to previous days, though I expect the waves will kick up soon with the storm sitting off our coast forming up and gathering strength. Surfers are enjoying it. The storm is expected to gain strength but to keep moving northwestward, though with the extremely warm water in front of us, I wouldn't be surprised if it came a lot closer to our coast and hung around. Rain keeps being predicted, as it has been for the past week or so, yet so far nothing. Let's hope we're not still sala'o like we were last year. ;-)

A comfortable beachfront vacation home on the point of Manzanillo Beach in the Troncones community 30 minutes north of Ixtapa. Perfect for two couples or a family.

We have a friend in Jacksonville who keeps a couple boards at our place in Ixtapa. He jumped on a plane for three days of surfing in Saladita and said it was epic. Fewer people in the water because of the size of the waves and the season. For more well heeled surfers, Charles Schwab's son has an investor group that is putting a wave pool in Cabo with lots starting at a million dollars.

Beautiful tree! Thanks for the daily photos Rob. No matter what time of year, they help tide all of us over until our next trip down.
(Is there any magic you can work to get the 2nd La Ropa cam back online?)
