We enjoyed another wonderful night for sleeping with the windows open listening to the sound of the surf and watching flashes of lightning in the distance. It rained gently off and on Thursday night and into Friday morning, but by dawn most of the clouds had gone, and the sun was out most of the day until early evening when it sprinkled some more. This is perfect weather for the tropics. And it's just what we need.

The first direct flight from Morelia arrived today. Politicians in both destinations swarmed the first arriving flights to have their photos taken, give speeches and shake hands. The poor passengers had to run the gauntlet. Volaris is the airline offering this service.

The streets and beaches continue mostly empty. In a couple of weeks we can expect to start seeing summer vacationers as schools let out. That should help local merchants and lodgings to get by for a while. Summer vacation lasts until August 31st this year, a bit longer than normal, so hopefully the additional tourism will help us get by until November when the snowbirds start returning. I suspect there may be a lot of cancellations by Statesiders due to the growing unrest in the States.

The Eco-Tianguis "Sanka" may be held at the Cancha Solidaridad across the street from the footbridge "El Vado" and next to El Paraíso Hotel this Saturday morning if it looks like rain and it's breezy. If you don't see them in front of the Vicente Guerrero school across from the museum, then that's where you'll find them from 8:30 AM until 1:00 PM. Lots of lovely crafts, good food, good drinks and other goodies to be found there!

A lovely little hotel in Troncones is Hotel Los Sueños. This enchanting oceanfront inn offers 6 one-bedroom suites, a two-bedroom family suite with kitchen, and a "cozy" surfers' room also with kitchen, queen-size bed and bunk bed. All rooms have A/C, fridge, hammock, wireless internet, and there is a pool on the property. Located on Playa Troncones within easy walking distance of the village, restaurants and convenience stores.

Al amanecer encontré huellas de una tortuga marina que ambuló erráticamente y no se anidó, probablemente por ser desorientada por las luces brillantes que iluminan el Paseo del Pescador. Un problema que parece no importarle al ayuntamiento.
