Nos ViZIHtó Un Ventarrón
Zihuatanejo had a wind event that preceded a nice rain on Tuesday night that rattled loose some of our láminas and blew down a tree in Colonia Vicente Guerrero Parte Alta. I imagine it caused other damage in the region.
Downtown we aren't seeing many visitors. A few, but the waterfront was mostly empty today and into the evening. Apparently Las Gatas wasn't very busy today, either. We walked to the pier early this evening and only saw one panga discharge people and one other crossing the bay from Las Gatas. Not the constant arrivals up to well past dark of a typical busy day.
A tropical wave is passing through that will likely bring more rain this Thursday and Friday, but it shouldn't ruin anyone's day. The rains have been tending to occur in the late afternoons and evenings.
This Thursday be sure to enjoy our traditional jueves pozolero at your favorite pozolería. There are many in the area, some which are listed on my RESTAURANTS page.
We're expecting another mar de fondo event along the coast of Guerrero this Friday. Just in time for the weekend rush of tourists that we're expecting. I hope we don't see any drowning fatalities. There've been way too many already this year.
If you enjoy learning about and experiencing some of our local flora and fauna, El Refugio de Potosí is a center for wildlife conservation and environmental education. Among its attractions, it features a fully reconstructed sperm whale skeleton (the only one in Mexico), an observation tower, a wheelchair accessible footpath for observing local flora and fauna, and a butterfly pavilion. Located near the beach on the road to Barra de Potosí. Perfect for the entire family.
