They are currently available on Monday and Wednesday in front of Bodega Aurerra.

These are the real things, down from Infernillo on a motorcycle early in the morning.

120 pesos a kilo and very yummy!!!

Interested. As a SE Texan, we eat our share of crawfish. How are they preparing them?

Or, is that price for live crawfish?

They are live.

I once bought live spot prawns off a boat (OK, at the dock) on Vancouver Island in British Columbia.

When I took them home and prawns “looked at” my wife, she wouldn’t eat them!

More for me. ;-)

Just like people wouldn't touch lobsters 100 years ago, cockroaches of the sea. How times change.

About 30 years ago I worked with a woman who grew up poor in Nova Scotia, Canada. She said she was envious of the children at school who had bologna sandwiches at lunch time.

Her family was so poor all she got for lunch was lobster leftovers from the previous night’s dinner.

In the 1980s I went to a fish monger in Vancouver, BC where I lived. Once in a while they sold “halibut cheeks”. They were kind of expensive but I loved them and bought them as a treat when I could.

My father was an avid fisher. I told him about halibut cheeks as if they were a new discovery. My father laughed. He said that when he was a young man dogs would come to the docks when commercial boats came with their catches. The fishers would throw the halibut cheeks to the dogs because the fishers didn’t want them.

True stories.

Yes LG, I was born and raised in Cape Breton NS and you were absolutely considered poor when we brought lobster sandwiches to school. Where on Van Isle do you live?

I used to live in lovely Cowichan Bay. I now live in a tiny place that is not too far from a little place that is further away from a small place which is even further away from the medium sized place of Nanaimo, which we consider the big city.

You should have said sooner! I'm in the Cowichan Valley, and there's other regular boarders around too! We could have had a board party.
Next time!
