Una AbundanZIHa de Alegría
The evening's rains made for great sleeping weather Saturday night. Had to turn down the fan and pull the sheet up over me to keep warm. Enjoying refreshing nights sleeping to the sound of the surf in Zihuatanejo's bay is one of our appreciated benefits.
Speaking of waves, the waves remain okay for surfers at a meter to a meter and a half at most of the popular local surf spots. Conditions are expected to remain about the same for the next several days. While there's a good chance of rain this coming week, fortunately there don't appear to be any tropical systems or mar de fondo events coming our way. Just balmy breezes and plenty of sunshine.
The downtown beach got busier this evening than it did during the day. Lots of people were out'n'about on the Paseo, and most of them appeared to be visitors. Lots of families and smiling faces, people glad to be here and not in Acapulco, Vallarta, Cancún or Los Cabos. It's a continuing error on the part of our so-called tourism authorities to believe that Zihuatanejo is in some kind of competition with any of those places, which is probably why their efforts to boost our tourism based on that premise continuously results in failure. They continue to use the silly theme #ThisIZit, not realizing that to English-speakers it appears they're referring to zits, though I've tried to bring it to their attention repeatedly. Oh well. I just keep doing what I do and enjoying the fruits of my labors. It still seems to be working.
For a truly relaxing B&B lodging overlooking the jungle in La Ropa, I highly recommend Casa Arcoíris. The view of the sunset over the treetops from their pool is breathtaking, and the peace and quiet will relieve you of any stress. Five comfortable suites with air conditioning, TV, and Wi-Fi access at this LGBTQ-friendly lodging make it somewhat exclusive and definitely enchanting. Mention ZihuaRob's and get a discount.
