Noche de PoeZIHa
A shame to have such absolutely picture-postcard-perfect weather with hardly any visitors here to enjoy it. The parking areas in the streets were empty of vehicles in downtown Zihuatanejo this morning instead of full of cars of visitors. The Blue Flag scam obviously isn't working to attract the visitors we need. I read that the municipal government spends something like 8 million pesos to "buy" it each year. Yes, it's a purchased phony award. It should be abandoned and the money invested in targeted marketing in the USA and Canada where our most important tourism market resides.
Don't miss the Orquesta de Zihuatanejo this Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at the Museo Arqueológico de la Costa Grande. It's free!
The music and poetry in Plaza del Artista this Wednesday evening was incredibly MAGICAL! Lupita almost cried when she was mentioned in one of the poems as the first girl in Zihuatanejo to wear a bikini. She stood up in front of everyone smiling and posing and told everyone that at 76 years old she STILL looks good in a bikini. I can vouch for that! She was certainly the first local girl I saw in Zihuatanejo wearing a white crocheted bikini. I'll never forget the moment I first laid eyes on her. She's the reason I consider myself the luckiest Gringo in Mexico.
Besides the event at Plaza del Artista, there were hardly any people along the Paseo del Pescador or the pier this evening except other locals. Lots of people now fish at the pier even though, like walking dogs on Playa La Ropa, it's supposed to be against municipal regulations. But no one ambushes, attacks, harms, kidnaps and extorts the people fishing like the municipal government did to a La Ropa resident foreigner walking his dog responsibly on Playa La Ropa at dawn. To the contrary, the tourist police and pier officials are often present and do absolutely nothing to the fishermen other than greet them politely, as local officials should've done with the La Ropa resident.
ESTO NO FUE NECESARIO.

If you're a fan of mouth-watering recipes, one of the best reasons for visiting Ixtapa is to go to Deborah's Restaurant. Whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner, everything we've ever eaten there has been prepared to perfection and the service has always been excellent. Deborah also makes some of the best desserts around, so save room when you go.
