Intercam Bank update

by wisconsinjuan @, Thursday, August 21, 2025, 10:40 (442 days ago)

Yesterday I received an email from Intercam that they are merging with Kapital Bank. So I called this morning to find out when they might be able to accept wired money from the US. Here is what I was told. The merger will be effective September 1st, and if their proposal with "the government" (not sure which one) is accepted, they expect to be able to accept wire transfers 2-3 weeks after the merger. So, hopefully I don't need to go thru the process of switching banks.

Yes, I read that in yesterday's news. The problem is all the services that are refusing to accept payments from Intercam even though absolutely NO charges have been filed against them and NO evidence has been presented. As far as I'm concerned, they're simply more victims of a corrupt, racist and inept U.S. government. A damn shame. I suspect someone who paid off the corrupt government of the Pedophile-in-Chief like Peter Thiel is benefiting from the disappearance of their services for U.S. residents in Mexico.

Aw c'mon. I don't have a dog in the Intercam fight and I know next to nothing about it. But it seems like a huge stretch to think that the heinous Peter Thiel and the US government are somehow orchestrating these events. For the life of me I don't see what they have to gain. There are probably a lot of other under-the-radar factors involved. Seems like you're edging too close to an unlikely conspiracy theory here.

Hola tocayo. I'm sure you have a good explanation for why 3 of Mexico's financial institutions that have many U.S. clients would be signaled out by the U.S. government as laundering money without any evidence being produced whatsoever, much less a formal ruling, essentially ruining their business for no apparent reason. Can't wait to hear it. No, you don't? Then kindly stuff it. I don't suffer hecklers here on my website. Have a nice day! :-)

I'm just saying the whole affair reeks of manipulation. As far as I know, the U.S. government has never done this before to any Mexican financial institution without at least presenting evidence, if not actual proof. Oh, and just like the whimsical tariffs, now the "sanctions" against these institutions by the U.S. government have been put off for another 60 days right after one of the banks filed a civil suit seeking damages. I wouldn't be surprised if the charges against these banks were dropped.

In the absence of evidence and given the track record of the Orange Mussolini Administration, what conclusion should one come to? They have been shaking down law firms, universities, media conglomerates, museums, etc. It is only logical and expected that they would go after financial institutions, especially ones associated with the Evil Immigrants from brown-skinned countries. Any UnitedStaters or Canadienses are unfortunate collateral damage.

I think you are being erroneously generous regarding the highlighted part. Trump’s damage to Canada is neither unfortunate in his mind or collateral. It is intentional, fortunate, and directed.

Trump has repeatedly indicated that he wants the US to absorb Canada.

He has explicitly misrepresented that Canada is complicit in the fentanyl problem in the US when even American data shows that 1% or less of fentanyl enters the US from Canada.

He uses tariffs to weaken the Canadían economy.

I could go on listing intentional damage and intention to damage by Trump.

I fear that it might take decades for the multi-generational friendship between Canada and the US to be restored after Trumpism fades. Given the mood of the American public and the blatant gerrymandering initiatives by Trump, it could take a decade or more for “America First” to fade. By the time it does, the US may have lost its reputation as being a beacon for good in the world.

Superman was the fictional character born of Canadian writer Joe Shuster famously fought for "Truth, Justice, and the American Way". Sadly, Superman might now need to choose between “Truth and Justice” or “the American Way”.

One should arrive at no conclusion or assumption. As Rob points out, with “no evidence” to suggest Trump had anything to do with this, it would be ignorant and foolish to make an accusation. Rob had made clear he will not tolerate slander here without evidence so please act accordingly.

You shouldn't twist my words out of context where I can see it. I clearly suggested the Pedophile-in-Chief has his fingerprints all over this. Slander away. What I won't tolerate is my website being used to heckle me.

I am an Intercam customer and I am familiar with the situation. The US has prevented US citizens from transferring money to or from Intercam. For people like me, it makes it extremely difficult to pay our maintenance fees, utility payments, etc without being in Mexico and depositing pesos into our accounts. The US is also going after the Delta/Aeromexico partnership which will also create difficulties and increase costs for people like me that travel often to/from the US and Mexico. The Intercam and Delta/Aeromexico issues have been in the news for some time and I invite anyone that is not familiar with these situations to do a little reading. I see Mexico sending their firefighters to LA to fight our fires. I see Mexico sending emergency personnel to help the rescue efforts in Texas. And how does the US respond?

El Pais reported yesterday that Intercam had 800,000 pensioners receiving money in their bank. That's a lot of US Dollars moving into the bank monthly.

Americans with the foresight and wherewithal to get ahead of the demand and obtain Mexican residency in 2024 or earlier are fortunate. It can take months to get an appointment with a Mexican consulate, and even with all the required documents and proof of financial solvency, the approval is arbitrary depending on the consulate and the individual in charge.

I cannot speak for the experiences of others. However, I was thoroughly pleased with the functionality and service of the Mexican Consulate in San Diego. On your next trip to Zihuatanejo, you could spend a few days visiting San Diego/Tijuana, schedule an appointment at the Mexican Consulate in San Diego, and then fly direct from Tijuana to Zihuatanejo.

We were incredibly impressed with the consulate at Oxnard, California. Go down the list and find a slightly off the beaten track location to go to.

Delighted to hear that! Our experience at the Consulado in Atlanta was also very smooth in 2022. We had our permanent residency visas the same day as the appointment. However, the surge in applicants has created a bottleneck.
