It's with great sadness I report the death of Nancy Scherr, whom many longtime residents and visitors knew. Nancy was a longtime resident and the beloved wife of our dear friend Tino Pineda. QEPD

Have you bought your Cuetlaxóchitl yet? They're still for sale at Plaza Kioto along with árboles navideñas.

Finally, the workers' strike is over at the Hotel Emporio. And this time for real. They've opened back up for business and are receiving guests as of this Monday.

Whale watching season officially begins this Monday, December 15. It lasts until March 20, though I doubt the whales have it marked on any calendar. ;-) Whales have been spotted in the bay and along our coast for the past several weeks. I list several certified guides for whale watching on my ZIHUATANEJO IXTAPA ACTIVITIES page.

Thank you for displaying a photo of the recently painted mural on the oceanside of Casa Marina: Pipina smiling with her husband Joe and son Cristobel.

Casa Marina - la familia

Thank you for displaying a photo of the recently painted mural on the oceanside of Casa Marina: Pipina smiling with her husband Joe and son Cristobel.

It's a very significant photo for Lupita and me and people who are close to the Krebs family, and it's a beautiful mural full of significance. Pipina is a dear soul who could never have imagined outliving both her husband Joe and her son Cristóbal. Yet she carries on as stoically and as strongly as she can, running her business as well as attending to personal affairs that have also been trying for her. Doña Helene would be so proud to see her today.

It's still not easy for her to live with her losses, and she needs the strength of her family and friends to get through these very trying times.

I hope to see her restaurant full every day! It gladdens my heart each time that I do.

Yes, Rob! We ate a scrumptious Thanksgiving dinner at Casa Marina where Pipina sat en el mismo lugar. Muy deliciosa como siempre.

Nancy will be dearly missed by those of us who knew and loved this grand dame of Zihua.
