Kapital's workaround
This past week I finally got my paws on a sheet containing the info to wire funds from a USA location to a Kapital Bank account in Mexico. I use a State chartered bank in Alaska. Since I am a geezer, for the past 10 years my wires to Intercam were always free regardless of the amount. They went to NYC where Intercam had a relationship with a bank there that then transferred the funds to Intercam in Mexico.
Under Kapital's new instructions, the funds first go to Cambridge Mercantile Corp (UK) then the funds are transferred to Barclays Bank in London and from there to Kapital in Mexico City.
What I used to be able to do for free now costs me $30 as it is treated as a foreign wire transfer and my old age will not get me a fee waiver. At least this first time it took approximately 40 hours to show up in my Kapital account in Zihua instead of 24 hours or less with Intercam. I don't view this as progress.
