The Christmas crowds are here. The beaches filled up quickly this Wednesday of Nochebuena, and this evening the restaurants are filling up. Lupita and I went early to enjoy our Cena de Nochebuena with our friends at La Porteña on the downtown waterfront. They pampered us as always, and we enjoyed a delicious meal with dessert, of course.

The fish have been roiling all over the bay these past few days. Schools of sardines are being herded by schools of jurel, and the result is a roiling mass of fish jumping and splashing while being dive-bombed by pelicans and other seabirds who are in turn harassed by frigate birds to give up their catch, which the frigates then catch in mid air. An amazing spectacle! We call such an event a picazón.

Expect fireworks at midnight tonight even though they're supposedly banned by the local government, who hypocritically will be putting on their own massive fireworks display for New Year's.

Lupita, Valeria, Blue and I want to wish everyone a love-filled and happy holiday season. ¡Feliz Navidad y fuertes abrazos!

[image]One of the loveliest vacation lodgings at La Ropa and one of my very favorite properties to promote is Villa Zanzibar, a charming 3-bedroom private villa tucked away in the old original La Ropa community at the southern end of the beach a short easy walk up from the waterfront. Located in one of the most peaceful areas of our community, this is a place to feel relaxed and at home. (click to enlarge photo)
