Crowds continue occupying our beaches from dawn to dusk and then some. Mostly families from the inland cities who are thrilled to be here. The ocean is as calm as it gets. Not only is swimming easy in Zihuatanejo's bay, but also along beaches fronting the open ocean such as Playa El Palmar in Ixtapa and Playa Blanca. Unfortunately, there happen to be a lot of jellyfish in the area, so swimmers have to be careful of them. It didn't seem to be deterring many folks. The jellyfish are usually grouped together, so folks were only avoiding certain patches of the water where they were concentrated.

Tamakún was laid to rest today in the Panteón de Las Pozas after having his coffin and funeral cortège visit the Laguna del Negro where he cared for the enclosed crocodiles for so long. Not one representative of the municipal government bothered to show up.

Against the wishes of more citizens than ever, the local government announced the locations of the huge fireworks displays they intend to put on for New Year's. If you're near a beach you won't be able to miss them. And anything living within miles of the beaches or the Unidad Deportiva will be able to see and hear the huge explosions planned as public entertainment. Animals will suffer and die, people will suffer and cry. But after banning fireworks for Día de Guadalupe and Christmas, and of course banning beachgoers from even so much as playing music on certain beaches, the hypocritical government intends to put on the same old show. For several minutes after midnight we will all get exposed to the sounds of a war zone, and we taxpayers are paying for it.

A favorite location for many visitors, Amor del Sol located overlooking Playa La Madera is an extremely comfortable and nicely appointed condominium that offers from 1 to 3 bedrooms (only pay for what you need!).
