Once again the downtown beach was full of visitors and fishermen long before the sun broke the horizon. Many fresh off their bus from the colder climes of the El Bajío, Tierra Caliente and the altiplano region toting heavy clothing, suitcases and coolers on their way to the pier for the trip to Las Gatas to spend the day with their families enjoying the natural beauty, perfect weather and delicious fare of Zihuatanejo. I hope they weren't disappointed. From the looks on the faces of the crowds we saw returning from Las Gatas this evening I'll guess that most enjoyed the time of their lives. Others stayed on the downtown beach, some with their pets, some with their music, enjoying a day at the beach as it was meant to be enjoyed.

The ocean water temp continues to be quite comfortable and warm at 28.8°C, absolutely perfect. Same as our weather, with overnight lows around 20°C and daytime highs around 30°C. Still no real waves for the surfers, and the bay is like glass in the mornings.

As we near the end of another year, I can't help but reflect on how fortunate my family and I are to be right where we are, far from so much of the madness that has stricken so much of the world. I took a chance over 36 years ago and followed my heart, and I haven't regretted it for one second. My heart goes out to all the folks suffering anxiety, stress and disillusion for the sad state of affairs to our north. What a mess. But here in Mexico most of us see a bright future ahead as we progress and move forward under the guidance of an extremely intelligent and altruistic leader who leads with love, intelligence, compassion and wisdom. For a dual citizen, it's quite the dichotomy. For this reason, I appreciate my good fortune all that much more, and I have no doubt I'm very possibly the luckiest Gringo in Mexico.
