Our perfect weather continues. The humidity has been fairly high, which I love, and there's even a fair chance of some rain later this coming week. Oh boy! The ocean is so calm in Zihuatanejo's bay that there are no waves, especially in the morning before the breeze picks up. And there was a nice breeze in the late morning and afternoon.

As of 8PM this Sunday evening there have been more than 2,400 aftershocks from the San Marcos earthquake of 2 days ago. We've only had a few small ones under 4.0 in our region, not big enough to be felt.

Even though the waves have been only about a half meter high at most along our open ocean, somehow 4 tourists at Playa Linda still managed to almost get drowned by them today. Swimming should be mandatory learning for everyone, like walking.

While hotel occupancy remains high in Ixtapa, the highways heading inland remain crowded from vacationers returning home after spending the holidays here. The downtown beach was still crowded today, and the waterfront during the evening was full of people strolling, sitting, eating, and enjoying the evening show at the Cancha Municipal. The plazas could use more trash bins, something my wife and I have tried to bring to the attention of the municipal government for months. And if we don't want the smell of urine everywhere, then we need more public restrooms; and if you want people to actually use them, they need to be free of charge. Something I've been saying for decades.

A truly lovely and extremely comfortable colonial-style boutique hotel with a pool offering different sized rooms and suites, perfect for couples, all with air-conditioning, cable TV and wi-fi internet access. Conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood two blocks from La Madera Beach in the Darío Galeana neighborhood near the fire department. (click to enlarge photo)
