Zihuatanejo was like a ghost town this Tuesday compared to previous days. And the folks who visited us by car or bus from the inland cities had a rough time getting home on Monday. The Autopista Siglo XXI was blocked for over 14 hours due to an accident, and the Autopista del Sol as well as the libramiento for the same route was blocked for much of the day by protestors. A reminder that we need better roads, and a railroad route wouldn't hurt, either.

Though I could see storm clouds on our southern horizon outside the bay at sunrise, our skies remained clear all day, and there was once again a lovely breeze that kept our temperatures mild. We couldn't ask for better weather!

Man, the full moon sure snuck up on us and is now waning. That's what I get for missing my evening walks due to this damn cough. And the cloudy skies last week also kept us in the dark, so to speak.

I heard it took 15 tourist cops to break up a fight between two local women on the beach in front of Daniel's Monday evening. Don't mess with our women! They will bust you up! ;-)

Beginning June 2, Volaris offers round trip flights between Puebla and Zihuatanejo on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Puebla is a beautiful city and a fascinating state with much to see. Tickets began going on sale this Tuesday.

If you're going to Isla Ixtapa, I do NOT recommend using the pier at Playa Linda. The poorly-conceived, poorly-built and poorly-maintained pier is on the verge of collapsing. For some odd reason local authorities appear to prefer to ignore the danger. One look at the decrepit and broken pilings and it's obvious no one should be using it. The millions of pesos spent building and maintaining the pier have provided fat pockets for unscrupulous public servants, but the pier as well as the markets and restaurants should never have been moved there from their original location at Playa Quieta.

This Wednesday evening at the Orient Bay restaurant (the original Bay Club) is the fund-raising concert for the Sociedad Protectora de Animales de Zihuatanejo (SPAZ). We might not be able to make it for health reasons, but we sure hope that all of you who are here will. It's for one of the best local causes, people who work tirelessly to make the world a better place for the animals we share this planet with, especially domestic animals.

He can arrange fishing and horseback riding tours as well as tours to other parts of Mexico. (click to enlarge image)
