These cool mornings are wonderful! Perfect for snuggling under a light sheet while watching the dawn's light paint the sky over our beautiful bay. Not much breeze for much of today, but picturesque rain clouds appeared over the sierra this afternoon while our local skies remained clear.

This Thursday, Feb. 5, jueves pozolero, is also the 91st anniversary of the establishment of the Municipio de Petatlán. There's going to be a big celebration at their zócalo in front of the Palacio Municipal starting at 5:30 P.M. ¡Muchas felicidades, parientes y vecinos!

If you're a fútbol fan, the first round of the best tournament of fútbol except for the World Cup, the Concacaf Champions Cup, got underway this Tuesday evening. Teams from all over America play each other. Last night we enjoyed Club América (from Mexico) winning their opening match against Olimpia (from Honduras). In a later match, UNAM's Pumas got their butts kicked by San Diego. Expect to see Champions Cup matches on TVs at bars and restaurants everywhere.

Lupita and I were bummed not to be able to attend the SPAZ fundraiser this Wednesday night, but we didn't want to risk putting anyone else through what we've been through, especially folks who already have respiratory problems. I hope folks will share their photos and experiences here.

A momma whale and her calf were spotted in the bay this Wednesday near Playa Contramar. Keep a sharp eye out, especially in the morning when the bay is usually calm, and you might see them.
