Due to the long-failed “war on drugs” and the killing today by Mexican federal forces of Mexico’s most powerful cartel leader, it’s not currently safe to be on our public roads for the moment. Vehicles are being set on fire and most public transportation has been halted. This is as a precaution until things calm down.

We are seeing stories online about the violence in PV but is this notice referring to Zihuatanejo? We were just about to come from La Ropa into Centro for a bite to eat.

My understanding is that bus and taxi service is not operating. I have heard that Oxxos are closed. I have seen announcements that sailfest events have been cancelled. I can’t personally verify any of this but trust the sources.

Any further news? The internet is strangely quiet about this.
At the far end of La Ropa, there were no busses. We did see one cab. Don’t know anything else.
Our condo man got here. The garbage truck was here but we still don't know whether it's safe to go out etc?

Schools closed even though they weren't supposed to. It's been a slow morning in Zihuatanejo, but life is still returning to normal. Many stores didn't open today, but the larger ones did. Public transportation is returning. Buses of tourists arrived this morning, I guess from Michoacán. All the regulars showed up for coffee this morning. The sun is out. The ocean is calm. The temperature is warm. I expect everything to be normal by Tuesday.

There never were any roadblocks. The problems are over and everything is back to normal today. Today is just another beautiful day in paradise here on the Costa Grande of Guerrero.

This was a run errands day for us, including hitting the nurseries in la Puerta. Totally back to normal, no signs that anything happened here. Not much actually did.
On a side note, on Sunday we saw videos of an airplane on fire and people running from gunshots in the terminal at Guadalajara airport.
IT WAS ALL FAKE!!!!! Really did our research yesterday and found that nothing, absolutely nothing happened within the boundaries of the airport in Guadalajara. All fake.
