¡Muy Feliz Día de las Mujeres!

Another cool and refreshing morning that began under a cloudless sky. Dozens of women along with our mayor Liz Tapia set off on paddleboards this morning from Playa La Ropa in celebration of Día de las Mujeres. Later in the day there was a peaceful march by women protesting against crimes against women. Some roads were briefly closed, but there were no incidents.

The day warmed up quickly, but not too warm. It was quite a comfortable day with a nice breeze. The ocean continues to cool down, but the surf is expected to pick up this week, so good news for surfers. Businesswise, it was apparently a slow day for local merchants. Not many visitors to be seen in the streets with shopping bags.

There were a lot of people enjoying an evening stroll on the downtown waterfront this evening. Many were watching the cultural events at the Cancha Municipal. Lots of women were out celebrating their day. Most of the restaurants along the waterfront were doing excellent business. Even El Dani had a few tables of customers. Slowly but surely they seem to be coming to life.

It was a real pleasure to run into Mary Cunningham, whom I've known for about 20 years, and her partner Brennan last evening. They were having a wonderful time as their smiles revealed. I'm sorry if I rambled on. I would've enjoyed having more time with you all.

[image]A favorite location for many visitors, Amor del Sol located overlooking Playa La Madera is an extremely comfortable and nicely appointed condominium that offers from 1 to 3 bedrooms (only pay for what you need!). The complex has a pool, but the ocean at La Madera is often calm enough for easy swimming. (click to enlarge photo)
