¡GraZIHas a los Héroes de Café Caracol!
Thursday was a repeat of Wednesday: nipper morning that quickly warmed into a perfect day with clear skies and a nice tropical breeze. But the lull between the big swells of the ongoing mar de fondo gave a false sense of confidence to a lot of people. Some thought it was a great time to go for a swim, then found themselves diving under wave after wave. They were a bit smaller today than yesterday, and this Friday they will be a bit smaller still, but then either Saturday or Sunday they will get quite large again, up to 3 meters high along the open coast. Two fishermen in Acapulco fishing from rocks along the coast beside a small cove lost their lives when huge waves swept them off the rocks and out to sea, a third managed to swim back to shore safely. The pier at Playa Linda was going to open today, but damage and the return of the swells nipped that idea in the bud, and it remained closed again today, and folks had to be creative to get to Isla Ixtapa. A friend of mine hired one of the banana boats to ride over on.
City workers were painting the crosswalks in the street in front of our home this morning when their LP-gas-powered street-painting machine decided to catch on fire and pose a risk of blowing up. Huge thanks to the brave workers at Café Caracol for jumping to action with their fire extinguishers and putting the fire out! The city workers had no extinguisher and appeared totally unprepared for such an emergency. Thank goodness the contraption didn't blow up and injure anyone or harm our humble home. Almost ruined my morning buzz!
Is anyone paying attention to Saturn and Venus as they dance in the western sky at sunset? There's a slight separation between them now. Pretty cool! Neptune is there, too, but it's too feint to make any difference.

Salió un poco de bruma del mar con un poco de neblina durante el amanecer en la bahía de Zihuatanejo.
